How to use
- Read the expression and the English meaning above. Confirm they match the job you have in mind.
- Use the time zone dropdown to preview the next 10 fire times in UTC or a US/EU city.
- Copy the expression into crontab, GitHub Actions (`on.schedule.cron`), or your job runner.
- If you need a nearby interval, browse the related schedules at the bottom of this page.
Weekday cron is how you keep a job off Saturday and Sunday without listing calendar dates. Day-of-week 1-5 is Monday through Friday in the Vixie / Linux convention (0 and 7 are Sunday).
Some older systems treated 0 as Monday. Linux, macOS crontab, and GitHub Actions treat 0 as Sunday. DeskKit follows that mapping.
When this schedule is a good fit
Typical uses: Weekday-only deploys or cache flushes; Business-day financial close; Skipping a noisy Slack digest on the weekend.
Cron fields are zone-naive. The daemon’s TZ — or the TZ= line above the job — decides what “midnight” or “9am” means. Preview both UTC and the office zone before you ship.
FAQ
Is 1 Monday or Sunday?
Monday. 0 and 7 are Sunday, 1 is Monday, 6 is Saturday.
What about public holidays?
Cron does not know holidays. If you need “business days” in the banking sense, drive the schedule from an app calendar, not crontab.
Does this page upload my crontab?
No. The explainer and the next-run list run in your browser. The expression on this page is a public example.
